Background
In July 2025, under pressure on the payment networks, Steam added a rule against content that could violate its payment processors' policies and removed hundreds of adult titles. On July 24, 2025, itch.io deindexed all adult content from search and browse. Free adult games returned within days; paid adult games have been returning slowly since.
Adult games are a large, creator-driven market: adult game creators earn several million dollars a month on Patreon alone, and the biggest adult game platform reports over a hundred million monthly visits. Most of that money flows to small independent studios with no reliable storefront.
Boilerplate
DuskPlay is a store dedicated to adult indie games. It sells games as one-time, DRM-free purchases, reviews every title by hand, and only lists original characters who are adults. DuskPlay is in early access at duskplay.com.
