How to tell a game is made with Ren'Py
- The game folder contains a
gamefolder and arenpyfolder. - You'll see files ending in
.rpa,.rpyor.rpyc. - The menu has the classic Ren'Py layout: Start, Load, Preferences, About, Help, Quit.

Useful Ren'Py controls
- Mouse wheel up / Page Up: roll back to previous lines (and change a choice, if the game allows it).
- Tab: toggle skip mode. Ctrl: skip while held.
- H: hide the text box to see the art.
- S: take a screenshot. F: toggle fullscreen.
- Right-click or Esc: open the game menu.
Common problems and fixes
- Black screen or crash on launch: update your graphics drivers; in Preferences, try a different renderer if the game starts.
- Text too small: many games have a text size option. Otherwise play in a smaller window.
- Lost saves after an update: they're usually still there. See where Ren'Py saves are stored.
- Antivirus warning: unsigned indie executables sometimes trigger false alarms. Only trust it if the file came from the developer.
